Motor Vehicles Watch Lifted

(Lamoine) - The Bureau of Motor Vehicles has lifted a monitor watch on the town office following the change in registration agents last fall. Routinely the BMV will monitor a town’s work when an agent changes.

The monitoring proved very helpful for staff training, as the BMV sent copies of mistakes the office made on several registrations. Most of the mistakes were very minor and involved the effective date of registrations. Of the over 600 car transactions over a 3-month period, only 25 contained errors, for a little better than a 95% success rate. The staff said it would use the monitoring to improve the accuracy of all transactions.
