Quiet Start to ‘04 for Fire Department

(Lamoine) — Just one actual fire to put out for the Lamoine Volunteer Fire Department. Eight calls for help came in since January 1st, the most serious being a chimney fire at a Seal Point Road residence. A quick response save the home from major damage.
The quickest response came town meeting night when one of the firefighters noticed smoke coming from the back of a pickup truck The meeting room quickly emptied of firefighters who prevented the fire from damaging the truck.

The fire department responded to two homes filling with smoke in the early morning hours in January. Both incidents were caused by oil furnaces and the occupants called qualified service personnel after firefighters cleared the smoke.

The rescue boat was called to Gouldsboro in case a fishing boat trapped in the ice needed evacuation (it didn’t). Personnel assisted at an accident in Trenton.
