It’s No Go For Police Patrol

(Lamoine) — With little debate other than warnings that the town would take on too much of a liability, voters at the annual town meeting rejected further exploration of a volunteer police patrol. A committee had recommended the exploration after several meetings with officials from the Hancock Volunteer Patrol showed that it served as a good crime deterrent. Though a few people expressed interest in serving on a volunteer patrol, they did not speak in favor of the town sponsoring. Lamoine will continue to receive route police services from the Sheriff’s Department and the Maine State Police.
