Habitat House Nears Completion

(Lamoine) — Cheryl, Mackenzie and Ben Curtis will be moving soon, and every day they see their new home a little closer to reality. The Curtis family’s house is a true community effort through Habitat for Humanity.
Terry Towne of Habitat for Humanity says the home was 75% to 80% complete by late March, and the Curtis’ should be able to move in by June 1st at the latest. Towne gave a great amount of credit to the Hancock County Technical Center staff and students who’ve completed a lot of the interior work at the house. He estimated at least 750-hours of volunteer labor has gone into the project. The Curtis family has also invested a great deal of time and effort into putting their new home together. Power, plumbing and heating will be installed in early April.
