(Lamoine) - Code Enforcement Officer and Plumbing Inspector John Holdsworth
passed away following a long battle with heart disease on June 9, 2004.
John held his present position for nearly 4-years. A memorial service
is planned for July 17th at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Ellsworth.
John was very active in town government for many years, serving on the
Board of Appeals prior to his CEO position, and he served once before
as Code Enforcement Officer between 1981 and 1983.
John spent much of his life as a newspaper printer, and owned the Pine
Tree Print Shop in Ellsworth. He and his family put the town report
together for many years. He was also a highly respected site evaluator,
designing hundreds of septic systems in Hancock County.
Undoubtedly the most important thing to John was his family. He and
his wife Rose raised four daughters, all of whom still live in Lamoine
with their children.
John’s passing leaves a void in the town office, as he was well
liked by the rest of the staff and everyone who came in contact with
him.
Dennis Ford, who spent the last year training with John as the Deputy
Code Enforcement Officer, was appointed to take John’s place,
having passed his certification tests less than 24 hours before John’s
passing.
