(Lamoine) — The difference was evident immediately. After a roadside
cleanup event June 5th, Lamoine looked a lot better to those driving into
town. Georgia Munsell of McFarland Lane worked with the Conservation Commission
and coordinated the cleanup and about 35-people volunteered, hitting the
streets with orange vests loaned by the Maine Department of Transportation
and large, clear trash bags also donated by MDOT. Over 100-bags were filled
up with discarded cups, paper, cigarette butts, and you name it. Other
volunteers carted the local road trash to the transfer station, while
MDOT picked the bags up from the state highways. Many thanks to Mrs. Munsell
and all the volunteers!
