Changing of the Guard For Honoring Vets

(Lamoine) — When Joe Lear passed away earlier this year, the town lost a lot of historical knowledge, including where all the Veterans were buried. Thankfully, Bill Parkinson had accompanied Mr. Lear the previous year in the effort to make sure all Veterans received a flag on their grave for Memorial Day. This year, Parkinson and Adm. Asst. Stu Marckoon rode around to the various large and small cemetery plots to insert the flags into their holders. Helping out as well was Lear’s sister, Edna Coyne, who helped to start a list of veteran grave locations in the East Lamoine Cemetery. Mrs. Coyne also came across other records to show other burial areas.
