	LAMOINE SCHOOL DEPARTMENT SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE MEETING NOTES MEETING DATE: August 2, 2005

SUMMARY OF EVENTS:

1. The committee was provided an overview of the work that has been accomplished since it was formed, the result's of the Major Capital Projects Application process, and the decision to pursue State Revolving Renovation Fund money to address the building deficiencies identified in the Facility Assessment Report.
   
2. The committee began the process of drawing up a list of space and program needs for the school. The list, in no particular order of priority, is as follows:

   Gym (with locker rooms)

   (with fine arts area/stage)

   Parking

   Student Drop-off Area

   Replace portables with permanent space

   Safe entry and office area (service buildings and grounds, locking doors)

   Middle level Science lab/Art room

   Water in more classrooms

   Computer Lab

   Large/Community Library

   Storage space

   Chemical Storage

   Improved/efficient lighting

   Safer playground (away from traffic and public access)

   Ceiling tiles

   Pest Control

   Grade groupings w/ grade appropriate bathrooms

   Additional bathrooms

   Water fountains

3. The committee was updated on the status of the Jina Haslam Gym Fund and fund raising activities underway or planned. The committee recommended that the School Committee be responsible for authorizing expenditures from the Jina Haslam Gym fund pursuant to existing Lamoine School Department procurement policies and procedures.
