PATRONS MEETING NOTES
|
||||||
v ATTENDING: Angie Butler, Lisa Branch, Kelley Brown, Laura Parlee, Sharon Oliver
v PLAYGROUND report
Ø All the initial clearing has been done, however, Dick King won’t
be able to move the old pieces until sometime in October.
Ø Patrons will transfer $1000 for the ’03-’04 school year.
Ø Patrons will sponsor / pay for 2 NEW small pieces of equipment for
the new location, not to exceed $1000. This will be a “pre-pay”
for the $1000 that we normally give to playground at the end of each school
year.
Ø After the $1000 transfer, Playground will have approx $7000 for funds.
This should cover any problems that may arise from moving pieces (i.e. if something
breaks and needs replacement) as well as cover installation and wood chips etc.
Ø As soon as we have the old pieces moved, we can start fundraising with
goals for specific pieces.
v TREASURER report
Ø Lots of deposits and payouts happened since last meeting. We had to
reimburse teachers for what they spent on teacher appreciate awards (which by
the way, not all teachers took advantage of! We awarded out $800 but only $475
was turned in for reimbursement…) The breakfast earnings completely covered
that expense, and that is the goal for this year as well.
Ø Deposits Included:
§ $880 reimbursement from Val for the laptop loan
§ $211.58 Technology 4 kids
§ $702.80 Box tops
§ $179.26 School pop
§ $63.50 Breakfast
§ $157.20 Breakfast
§ $177.70 Breakfast
§ $137.62 Breakfast
§ $174.00 School Wide Family Night Luau
§ $23.95 Breakfast
§ $80.75 Breakfast
§ $136.50 Breakfast
§ $52.36 Breakfast
Ø After we pay out $1000 for ’03-’04 playground commitment
and approx $1000 pre-pay for this year, our check book beginning balance will
be approximately $1694.36. This figure may be adjusted next month if we don’t
spend the full $1000 ordering the 2 new playground pieces. We are starting the
year at more than double what we did last year… YEA!!!
v BREAKFAST has started back up!
Ø We received a go-ahead from the school board, so breakfast started
back up this week. We currently have enough items on hand, however, inventory
goes fast, so it might be nice to put out a general request for items periodically.
That way any parent who would like to donate can. Items that we sell and will
need include:
§ Hot Chocolate and marshmallows
§ 100% vit c fortified Juice – all flavors. Sunny D goes really well
§ Bagels (frozen)
§ Cream Cheese packets. (Can be purchased at Sams)
§ Pop Tarts – hot sellers are S’mores and Chocolate Chip
§ Cereal Bars
§ Mini Muffins (the packs with a few in them)
§ Mini Doughnuts (the packs with a few in them)
§ English Muffins
§ Butter – INDIVIDUAL PATS (Can be purchased at Sams)
§ Go-Gurt yogurt packs
Ø PARENTS MAY DONATE ITEMS AT ANY TIME… THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
v BOX TOPS 4 EDUCATION has kicked off again!
Ø This is SUCH a great fundraiser… Last year alone we raised $795.16!
Let’s keep collecting, and keep them coming in!
Ø We will do another CONTEST to see which class can get the most in.
The winning class for the 1st contest will win a CHRISTMAS party! The deadline
to turn box tops in to count towards this contest will be October 15th. We will
count them at the next meeting and get them ready to go.
v Annual HALLOWEEN PARTY
Ø We have set the date for the 2004 Halloween Party for Sunday, October
31st – Halloween! The party will be from 2-4pm. This will give everyone
enough time to clean up after and still be able to take the kids trick or treating
if you want to.
Ø We will plan to DECORATE the Saturday before.
Ø As usual, the party will be for students in grades K-5 only. We should
put out the invitation to the older kids that if they would like to HELP run
a game etc, they are welcome to. We had some older kids help out last year and
that went over good.
Ø We should put the requests out for DONATIONS early on, at the start
of October… candy, prizes, and cakes.
Ø We talked about having a raffle for possibly a bike or scooter. Kelly
Brown will see if she can get one donated from any of the local stores.
Ø We decided we should sell concessions (hot dogs, soda, chips). This
would allow people to grab a light supper and then go trick or treating if they
wanted to.
Ø The Halloween party will be completely planned at the next meeting.
We will pick games and seek volunteers.
v VOTING OF OFFICERS for ’04 – ’05 school year
Ø We voted in 5 officers for this year. Chrystine Emeigh wasn’t
present so we couldn’t officially re-new her position without her consent.
Chrystine has been a staple for the patrons the last few years, and we look
forward to her continued ideas and support!
Ø Elected Officers are as follows:
§ President – Angie Butler – tyger2@adelphia.net
§ Vice President – Sharon Oliver – maury@midmaine.com
§ Treasurer – Lisa Branch – seaketch@aol.com
§ Secretary – Laura Parlee – parlee@localnet.com
§ Public Relations – Kelly Brown – ssbrown@prexar.com
v NEXT MEETING – October 18th at 6:30 PM We will plan out the year’s events, count box tops and PLAN THE HALLOWEEN PARTY. All are welcome to attend and give us your ideas! Meeting adjourned at 8:15pm
v As always – if you have any questions, or suggestions, please let one of us know! J
