Administrative Assistant's Report

For Meeting of February 7, 2008

Though Election Day was busy, it's been really quiet at the town office for the past two weeks. The agenda is relatively short!

Minutes of 1-24-08 – The usual editing job is most appreciated.

Warrant 16 – A couple of unusual things on here. One is a $200 check to the fire department. I goofed and deposited a donation to the fire department with the town deposit (put the check in the wrong bank bag). I also have a payment scheduled for Weininger Monuments as we're at more than $1,000 in the fund. The other is the $700+ bill to Colwell Diesel, which will be discussed later on in the agenda.

Cash & Budget Report – Excise tax collections have really tanked in the last part of January. I'm not worried about them coming back, but they'll look bad in the report.

Bank Reconciliation – I should have this done if all goes well on Friday.

Contract with Pavement Management Services – This is the annual contract with Roger Picard to measure our paving plans, set up the contract bids etc. It has worked well in the past, and also provides us with a good budget number for paving. I had built 1.5” of paving and he uses 1.75”, thus the estimate higher than the initial budget.

Results – January 29th Town Meeting – Turnout was better than I anticipated. The vote passed 248 to 85. The bond bank paperwork was signed earlier in the day. I've put the press release e-mailed to the media in your packet.

April town meeting – Harvey will indeed moderate the 4/1 and 4/2 meetings. I've made the changes to the warrant as discussed at the last meeting. I don't know of any more articles to include at this time.

Town Report – What we've received is printed. The changes you submitted last meeting are included. Still waiting on a few more committee reports, the school report, the final budget document, and the warrant.

Energy Price Offer – Constellation Energy sent out a mailing. I think they're trying to compete with Bangor Hydro. I've put it in your packet.

Fire Department Request – Insurance Deductible Fund – The bill I referred to from Colwell Diesel is a direct result of what the fire chief discussed with you a couple of meetings ago. It does not rise to the level of a claim ($2,500 deductible). The chief has asked if this could be from the insurance deductible fund.

Veterans Memorial Update – This will remain a fairly constant agenda item until the project is done, and Jo had requested that it be on anyway.

School Consolidation Update – Not sure what the Legislature is doing with consolidation. Cynthia may have something to report.

Budget Review – Just a reminder that the Budget Committee meeting is the 11th . I should have materials from Dennis on the Buttermilk Road fund and the Ditching budget for you in your packet.

All for now……see you on the 7th .
