Administrative Assistant's Report

Special Meeting - July 28, 2016

So much for a meeting a month in the summer – my apologies.  My goal is to keep this meeting short and deal only with some very pressing matters.  You will start at 6PM at the town hall.  The Comp Planning Committee meets at 6:30.  I realize Bob is on both this board and the Comp Planning Committee – the Selectmen, after the executive session, will recess to the fire station to meet with the fire chief on the damaged pump issue.

Warrant 2 – This will be updated periodically on the town’s website.  I’ll have previous and current fiscal year budget reports for you as well.

Executive Session – The affected employee will be present to meet with you.

Fire Truck Damage – As reported to you via e-mail, the 1995 pumper (Engine 401) suffered a catastrophic pump failure and is being repaired in Island Falls.  The cost estimate is $12,000 to $15,000 which was not budgeted.   I have filed a claim with MMA Risk Management, but have no idea whether this will be covered by insurance.  If it is not, my suggestion would be to have a special town meeting to appropriate money from surplus for the repair.

Video Switcher – As you know, the switcher froze a few weeks ago.  This was the original switcher purchased with the CTV system back in 2004, so it has done its time.  I have put a web page printout of a new 4-channel switcher in your material and the Tech Committee (minutes enclosed) has recommended that a new switcher be purchased from the CTV Fund.

Meeting Conflict – I’m embarrassed to say that I mistakenly schedule myself at another obligation on September 8th which is your first scheduled September meeting.  There are options – you could meet on September 1st (which would be 2-weeks after the August meeting), meet early in the day on the 8th, meet without me, or I could try to get out of that obligation.  What’s best?  Your call.

See you Thursday.
