Administrative Assistant's Report
For meeting of October 19, 2017
It’s been quite an eventful week here at the Lamoine Town Hall. Many thanks to you for making the extra meetings required to hire a new Code Enforcement Officer. I’ll have more on that later.
It was also the week our new electronic sign arrived. Thanks to those who were able to show up for the unveiling. There will be a story in the Ellsworth American next week I suspect.
Channel 7 was here yesterday and interviewed me on the sign and the Marlboro Beach purchase. I called in Aaron Dority of Frenchman Bay Conservancy and Jim Norris and sent them to the beach for footage.
This is the last full week of high school volleyball season, and I apologize for having to leave a bit early a few times to drive some rather significant distances to officiate. The work in the office is getting done, and I’ve kept a few odd hours this month. Basketball season will start in late November. I really appreciate Jennifer putting up with my sometimes sporadic schedule and making sure I get messages.
Your agenda is pretty light this time around.
Minutes – You have minutes from the October 5, 2017 meeting and the special meeting of October 10, 2017 for your approval. Please look them over to make sure I got things correct.
Expenditure Warrant 9 – The warrant will be periodically posted on the town’s website and updated in electronic form. The signature document will be in front of you on Thursday as usual. We’ve got our first snow plowing invoice of the season on here! There will be school bills arriving on Wednesday. I don’t know yet how much they will be, but it’s getting to the time of year that we’ll have to draw down from the general investment fund (which is very healthy at the moment!)
Cash & Budget Reports – These will also be updated on the website and printed on meeting day.
Code Enforcement Officer – I’ve spoken with Rebecca Albright and she has accepted the job. Official appointment papers will be generated for the meeting and Rebecca will be in attendance. She would like to start November 1st. I’ve spoken with Mike Jordan and he will also attend on Thursday to talk about the transition process. I will be drafting an employment agreement with her and should have something to look over and possibly sign by meeting night.
Marlboro Beach – I’ve spoken with Aaron Dority about where things stand in the purchase process and he will be here on Thursday to update the board.
Restoration Release – I’ve redrafted the restoration release agreement with Doug Gott, Inc. and sent that to Steve Salsbury for review. As of Friday morning, I’ve not heard back from him. A copy of the latest version is in your packets.
Transfer Station Inspection – I’ve put a copy of the state report in your packets. All seems good!
Budget Committee Alternate – I’m pleased to report that Eric Novella, who moved to town a few months ago, has offered to serve as the alternate on the budget committee. He served on the warrant committee in Southwest Harbor and said he absolutely loves the position.
Returnables – Lamoine Community Arts has requested the proceeds. Next available month is December. They last benefitted last February.
That’s all I was able to come up with for the agenda. See you Thursday night.
