Minutes - September 8, 2016

Deputy Town Clerk Stu Marckoon called the meeting to order at 6:15 PM at the Lamoine Town Hall.

Present were:  Committee members S. Josephine Cooper, Carol Duffy, Cynthia Donaldson, Gordon Donaldson and Administrative Assistant to the Selectmen Stu Marckoon.

Committee Officers – Jo and Cynthia agreed to co-chair the Committee.  Carol agreed to act as Secretary.

Committee membership – A lively discussion followed on whom to approach to help with the committee, with several names mentioned.  The committee members agreed to approach people who might like to serve.

The committee discussed numerous organizations to become involved with the effort.

Purpose and Goals – The Committee discussed various ideas regarding the goal of a Sesquicentennial celebration, and will bring back more to the next meeting.  The ideas discussed included:

The committee discussed timing for the event(s), and the possibility of a logo contest.  The group also agreed that the committee would be known as “Lamoine 150”.

The committee felt it was important to invite the town to submit ideas for events, and to invite possible committee members to the next meeting.

Carol agreed to administer a Facebook page when the time is appropriate.

Stu said he would print off calendars for 2019 and 2020 for the committee for its next meeting.

The committee said it would like to have an article in the next Lamoine Quarterly.  Carol said she would draft the article.

Next Meeting Date – The next meeting will be Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 5PM at the Town Hall.  Agenda items will include committee membership, ideas, a time line, and goals.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:55 PM.  The committee stayed for the Selectmen’s meeting and met briefly with the Board of Selectmen.
