Lamoine 150
Minutes- September 20, 2017 (Draft, subject to correction)

Co-Chair Cynthia Donaldson called the meeting to order at 5:03 P.M. at the Lamoine Town Hall.

Present were:  Committee members: Cynthia Donaldson, Gordon Donaldson, Miranda Engstrom, and Carol Duffy,  Nelia McIntire, alternate committee member; Robin Emery, guest.

Josephine Cooper was absent.

Lamoine 150th Roadrace

Robin Emery attended the meeting to give us advice about a roadrace and offered her assistance for the 2019 race.  Our timeline tentatively has the roadrace scheduled for September 2019.  Robin cautioned us that there are many roadraces in September and that August might be a better month.  We would need to start advertising the race in September 2018.

After a discussion of many different routes and lengths, the committee tentatively decided to have a four-miler race around the Shore Road loop starting and ending at the school.  There will be a one-mile kid run.  It may be a late afternoon race followed by a cookout at the school.

Registration fee for adults would be $15 to $20 and would include a race t-shirt and cookout.  There would be free registration for kids without the t-shirt and cookout unless we decide to charge a small registration fee to cover the shirt and food.

We would need help with runner refreshments, determining shirt material and finding possible sponsors ( shirts could cost $600), measuring the race distance, 32 prizes(possibly made by local artists - wood carvings, pottery), timing, ambulance, and a law enforcement chaser.

More suggestions for events:

      Snowshoe trek

      Tallying the turkeys
