|Minutes - February 14, 2018 (Draft, subject to correction)|
Co-Chair Jo Cooper called the meeting to order at 3:34 P.M. at the Lamoine Town Hall.
Present were: Committee members: Gordon Donaldson, Carol Duffy and S. Josephine Cooper, Cynthia Donaldson and Miranda Engstrom: Nelia McIntire, alternate committee member; Marion McFarland.
Review of Timeline Events: The committee spent most of the meeting reviewing our timeline of events. The timeline was updated and possible people were attached to many of the events. Gordon is going type up the revisions to the timeline.
When did we officially become a town? Gordon has discovered that March 1, not February 11 may be the day that we were incorporated as a town. On February 11, 1870, Governor Joshua Chamberlain signed the proclamation which became effective on March 1, 1870. We might celebrate February 11, 2020 as “Signature Day” and March 1, 2020 as the actual day we became a town. We discussed having a chili cook-off and reenactment on that day.
PR person is needed. A PR person is needed to help us as we get closer to the date. The position was described in the Lamoine Quarterly, but no one has volunteered.
Next meetings (all at 3:30 P.M.): March 14, Apr 11, and May 9.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 4:45 P.M.
