PR Update

Susan Reisman, Husson University, told Cynthia that the Lamoine 150th celebration would be part of her fall curriculum.

It is important to start getting our big dates on calendars.  Jo will contact DownEast Magazine, Yankee, and the Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce regarding our big celebration weekend on August 14, 15, and 16, 2020.

Our race is set for Saturday, September 28, 2019.  That date needs to be publicized now.  Robin Emery will be asked to help with this.

Carol needs items for our FaceBook page.  It’s time to start posting information about the race and our logo contest.

Gordon gave a very quick review of our calendar of events and responsible people.

September 20, 2018 Meeting - Groups to Invite

The following groups will be contacted and asked to send representatives to our meeting at the Lamoine School.  They will be sent a copy of our calendar draft before the meeting. (Gordon will send this out to us.) The name of the person responsible for contacting each group is listed after the name of the group.

Historical Society - Nelia

Road Race (Robin Emery) - Gordon

Fire Department - Jo

LCA - Cynthia

Grange - Carol

Recreation Committee - Cynthia

Lamoine Baptist Church - Carol and Marion

September 20, 2018 Meeting - Plan

1.      Introduction and explanation of our process to date - Jo

2.      Calendar Review - Gordon   (Go through calendar events month by month - general, not going into specific details -  soliciting feedback on events from community members.  Is this event doable? What do you need from the Lamoine 150th Committee?)

3.     Fundraisers - Carol (Our role is to  coordinate fundraisers.)

We will be checking in with community groups in about a month to see if their groups are willing to do specific events.  Confirmation will be requested by Thanksgiving time this year (2018).  It would be good to have a proposal sheet prepared that each group could complete and return to our committee.

March 2019 is the deadline for fundraising ideas so that duplicates can be avoided and to allow for publicity time.

Interesting Historical Event

Women first voted in Lamoine in September 1920.  Even though the 100th anniversary of this event is past the end of our official celebration, there was a brief discussion about staging a reenactment of this event.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:40 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Carol Duffy, Secretary
