1870 - Lamoine 150 - 2020
Minutes - April 11, 2018 (Draft, subject to correction)

Co-Chair Cynthia Donaldson called the meeting to order at 3:35 P.M. at the Lamoine Town Hall.

Present were:  Committee members: Gordon Donaldson, Carol Duffy, S. Josephine Cooper, Cynthia Donaldson and Miranda Engstrom; Nelia McIntire, alternate committee member; Marion McFarland.

The minutes of February 14, 2018 were approved by consensus.

PR Person:  Nelia has talked with Susan Reisman, an instructor at Husson about getting help with our PR.  Reisman is interested in using our celebration as a study for her class beginning in May.  We would like them to design a marketing plan(blueprint) for our events.  Jo will contact Reisman and invite her to attend our May 9 meeting along with some of her students.  Her students will need to learn about our town and planned activities.

Fund Balance:  We have a balance of $23,529.47.

Town Meeting Flyer: Jo was thanked for creating the town meeting flyer which created a lot of interest at the meeting.

Facebook Page: Carol created a Facebook page for “Lamoine 150.” The page has been “liked” 61 times.  Items to be posted on our Facebook page can be emailed to Carol.  Committee members who use Facebook have been made editors and can also post.

Timeline of Events:  The events in 2019 were reviewed and more people were assigned to individual activities.  Gordon will update the chart and contact Robin Emery about a date for the September road race.

Historical Society Calendar:  The 2019 calendar will go to print soon.  We need to let them know the dates of events to include on it as soon as possible.  There should be room on the calendar to list the events for each month without specific dates.

Fundraising Ideas:  postcard booklets, mugs, posters, t-shirts, flags with logo.

Banner or Flags?  Marion suggested that we hang a banner across the road to draw attention to our celebration.  Flags hung around town might be easier and could be sold as a fundraiser.

Lamoine Quarterly:  Gordon is working with Gary McFarland on an item for the next Lamoine Quarterly.

Lamoine School History Project:    Carol and Gordon are planning a Lamoine History Project to be started this year with the sixth grade.  The project is planned to continue next year when the students are in seventh grade with the creation of presentations about Lamoine.

Next meeting on May 9 at 3:30 P.M.  Robin Emery will be invited to discuss the road race.  Members of the Fire Department will be invited to attend our June meeting.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 4:32 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Carol Duffy, Secretary
