1870 - Lamoine 150 - 2020
Minutes - December 6, 2018 (Draft, subject to correction)
Lamoine Baptist Church has submitted three planning forms: Historic Open House and Tea (tentative date: August 15, 2020), After Road Race lunch (September 28, 2019), and Holiday Concert/Carol Sing (December 31, 2019).
We received two planners from the Lamoine Conservation Commission: Day of Service (September 2019) and Guest Speaker: Dr. Rick Will, archaeologist, “Lamoine Before Lamoine: Highlights of the Area’s Prehistory.”
Marion shared the list of proposed topics for the Lamoine Historical Society’s book.
Money for the Little Kids Play Structure has been put in the Parks’ budget as a back-up in case not enough money is raised. Cynthia is confident that enough money will be raised, but it’s good to know funds will be available if the budget passes.
Publicity and PR
We discussed ways to send out a flyer in 2019 to let people know about planned events. Three possibilities: send with tax bills in July, send with fire department mailing in the summer, or do our own mailing. If it’s not too expensive, sending out our flyer by itself might be the best option. No decision was made.
Joe Albert from Husson College will be developing a PR plan for us as a class project which is due by the end of December. We shared our objectives, plans, and unique qualities to highlight with him.
Lamoine 150th Posters
Miranda has ordered three posters that we can use at different town events to let people know about our upcoming celebration.
Reimbursement for Expenses
Committee members need to give receipts to Jo or Cynthia for reimbursement for expenses.
Jo hasn’t contacted Thelma Beal about parade planning, but will. Jo agreed to be part of the committee.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 4:32 P.M.
