Minutes of January 6, 2010

The meeting came to order at 7:00 PM

Present were: Assessors Terry Towne, Jane Fowler, Michael Jordan, members of the public Richard & Sheryl Davis, Valerie Chiasson, and Selectman Richard Fennelly Jr.

Meeting with Richard & Sheryl Davis re: Assessment

The board met with Mr. & Mrs. Davis and their attorney, Valerie Chiasson and discussed at length the issues surrounding the April 1, 2009 assessed value of their Shore Road property. The board and the parties came to no resolution at the meeting. (Note: A letter was received shortly after this meeting from the law offices of Ms. Chiasson that the Davises had made the decision to stop pursuing the matter of a reduction in property value.)

After the discussion, a motion was made and approved to adjourn to January 14, 2010 at 7:00 PM to complete the remainder of the posted agenda.

The meeting came to order at 7:00 PM

Present were: Assessors Terry Towne, Jane Fowler and Michael Jordan

Minutes of October 7, 2009 The Board approved and initialed the minutes

Membership Maine Association of Assessing Officers The Board agreed to notify Administrative Assistant Stu Marckoon that it wished to renew its membership.

Notices Received Board members were made aware of various activity surrounding property at Map 5 Lot 22-5, Map 20 Lot 20, and Map 13 Lot 34. No action from the board was required or taken

Valuation inquiry, Map 14 Lot 51 The Board reviewed a letter from Dorothy Spitzer regarding her opinion that her lot is over-valued. After comparing the valuation with abutting landowners, the board found the value is consistent with others in that area. The Board will prepare a letter to her stating the findings.

Deed Copies The Board agreed to notify Administrative Assistant Marckoon to go ahead and print the deeds from the Registry of Deeds website as opposed to being charged directly by the Registry for copies of deeds regarding Lamoine.

Other The Board reviewed the work of Matt Caldwell from RJD Appraisals regarding Map 4 o the Steve Joy subdivision lots and agreed on abatements and supplemental tax bills.

The Board agreed a supplemental tax bill should be issued to Bangor Hydro on Map 19 Lot 22.

Supplements and abatements will be signed at the February 3, 2010 meeting.

Next Meeting The next regular meeting of the Board of Assessors will be Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 7:00 PM
