	Lamoine Budget Committee Minutes of August 28, 2007

Chairman Henry Ashmore called the meeting to order at 7:15 PM.

Present were: Budget Committee members Hubene Brodie , Henry Ashmore, Joseph Young Jr., Reginald McDevitt, Linda Feury ; Administrative Assistant Stu Marckoon

Officers – Reggie moved to keep the same officer slate as the previous year – Henry Ashmore as chair, Joe Young as Vice-chair, and Stu Marckoon as Secretary. Hubene 2 nd . Vote in favor was 4-0 (Linda had not arrived yet)

Discussion – The committee discussed the following matters:

• Suggestion from Selectman Jo Cooper in regard to budget committee process and membership
• The pending school budget format in light of consolidation
• The just received petition for town meeting by referendum
• The special town meeting scheduled for September 19, 2007
• The participation of Selectmen at the Budget Committee meetings.

The Budget Committee would like to meet with the Selectmen at the September 6, 2007 meeting. Stu said he had penciled that in on the agenda.

Meeting Schedule – The committee was not yet set to schedule meetings for the 2008/09 budget, but hoped to do so jointly with the Selectmen at the September 6 th meeting.

Proposal from Selectman Cooper – Linda moved that the Budget Committee strongly disagrees with the recommendation from Selectman Cooper and will detail the concerns at the September 6 th meeting. Reggie 2nd . Vote in favor was 5-0.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM
