Minutes – May 8, 2017 – Merle moved to approve the minutes as distributed.  Connie 2nd.  Vote in favor was 4-0.

Schedule – The committee discussed at length preferred meeting nights and agreed to the following Tuesday evening schedule (meetings to begin at 6:00 PM)

Social Services Notification – Stu reported he had changed the dates on the notices to go to funded social service agencies.  The committee had no other changes to make. Stu said he would attempt to send the notices out tomorrow.

Budget Goals – Stu reported he had updated the capital improvements spreadsheet.  He said paving Seal Point Road would be in the budget, and the fire department has puta down payment on a ladder truck. He said there has been a lot of discussion regarding a community center. Robin said she believes in frugality, but the town should not skimp on taking care of its infrastructure.  Merle said he believes the town should do what has to be done and he respects requests of the various committees and it’s the budget committee’s responsibility to find the resources.  He said he has no axe to grind.

Stu reported excise tax was extremely healthy in the past year, noting that adding the Emera and Lobster 207 trucks helped the bottom line. Further discussion ensued about a community center and the ladder truck.  Connie said the facilities at both Lamoine Beach and Bloomfield Park should be addressed.  Stu said he would pass that along to the Parks Commission.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:03 PM

Respectfully submitted,

Stu Marckoon, Secretary
