Draft Copy - Subject To Change
Chairman Henry Ashmore called the meeting to order at 7:02 PM
Present were: Committee members Henry Ashmore, John Wuorinen, Nicholas Pappas; Administrative Assistant Stu Marckoon. Committee members Patty Heath, Laura Trepanier and Frank Murray had all indicated they would not be able to attend.
Minutes: Without objection the minutes of January 5, 2005 were accepted as presented.
Programs, Volunteers, Equipment – Stu reported that nearly every major meeting has aired live. He said that Nicholas recorded the basketball games and they aired the next days, as have several other events.
Stu reported that in addition to the board members trained to conduct the broadcasts, Chris Bowman (who's done the bulk of the broadcasts), Franco Colella and Kelly Wilder have been trained to operate the equipment. Discussion of welcoming more volunteers followed.
Stu reported he purchased a DVD recorder and other equipment for the operation, and those present looked at the setup.
Forms – Stu presented three forms he'd prepared in conjunction with the approved cable policies. The forms included permission for a minor to operate the equipment, requests to use the Cable TV equipment, and an airtime request. Those present felt the forms were adequate.
Goals – Stu said it would be helpful to have a camera and tripod for events outside the town office. Mr. Wuorinen moved to authorize Stu to purchase an appropriate camera and tripod. Mr. Pappas 2 nd . Vote in favor 3-0.
The committee discussed whether it would be desirable to have the ability to put callers on the air if they wished to call in during meetings or hearings. The committee felt that might be worth a try and to suggest it to the Selectmen.
The committee encouraged a recognition night as suggested at a recent Selectmen's meeting, and noted the CTV operators should be recognized.
There was a short discussion on the price of broadcast copies of tapes/DVDs. The committee felt that 8 th grade graduation should be recorded and complimentary DVDs provided to each graduate's family, with a suggestion that a contribution be made either to the Fire Department or the CTV system.
Next Meeting – The committee felt it would be beneficial to meet at the end of May at the call of the chair.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:42 PM
Stu Marckoon, Adm. Asst.
