Lamoine Cable TV Channel Committee
Minutes of January 5, 2005

Chairman Henry Ashmore called the meeting to order at 7:07 PM at the Lamoine School.

Present were: Committee members John Wuorinen, Patricia Heath, Henry Ashmore, Laura Trepanier, Nicholas Pappas, Adm. Asst. Stu Marckoon, and Franco Colella

Minutes – Without objection the minutes of December 15, 2004 were approved as presented.

CTV Telecasts – Stu reported that several meetings have been televised. He said Nick Pappas produced the Budget Committee meeting. He said he did the Conservation Commission presentation in December, and Chris Bowman produced a Selectman’s meeting and an Appeals Board meeting. Additionally, Nick Pappas taped several basketball games that have recently been telecast. The committee did a short critique on some of the airings, and discussed scheduling meetings. Stu said he’d try to send out an e-mail asking for folks to sign up for meeting production.

There was a fairly lengthy discussion on playing back meetings and the technology required to do that without having to have someone present.

Stu reported the Appeals Board did not seem enthusiastic about having their meeting telecast and raised the question of whether the Board can bar a telecast. The Cable TV Committee was of the consensus that the final call would rest with the Board of Selectmen. Stu said he could ask other towns what their experience has been.

Volunteers – There was a lengthy discussion on how to recruit more volunteers to run the equipment. Nick Pappas offered to tape Monday’s Budget Committee meeting. Henry said he would contact the Hancock County Technical Center again. Stu said he would send out an e-mail message requesting a reply by January 20th. There was discussion about having a recognition for volunteer producers. Stu said he would also try to contact Chris James at the school to see if more students might be interested.

Next Meeting – The committee left it to Stu and Henry to schedule another meeting if issues should come up. Mr. Colella said he’d like to see the policy and indicated an interest in learning how to run the gear and maybe produce a meeting.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:45 PM

Respectfully submitted,

Stu Marckoon, Adm. Asst.
