Lamoine Cable TV Meeting Notes

Chairman Bill Butler called the meeting to order at 7:01 PM
Present were: Bill Butler, Wendy Baker, Tim Sobel, Nicholas Pappas, Stu Marckoon
Meeting Minutes – October 23, 2006 – Bill read the minutes. Wendy moved to approve them as written. Nick 2nd . Vote in favor was unanimous
Follow up on actions taken since last meeting
Incentives for Technicians – Nick suggested that an offer of school credits would be a good incentive for students to run the system during meetings. There was a brief discussion about paying a stipend to technicians, either per meeting or on an annual basis. Wendy said she wouldn't be interested in getting paid to tech the meetings. Nick suggested a stipend could be optional. Tim said he might be more apt to want to tech a meeting for a little money. Stu said he would check into wage and hour issues that might be involved. No action was taken.
Formalizing the Committee – Stu noted that while the committee exists, the Selectmen have never formally appointed anyone to it. Those present said they would like to hear more information on becoming an official town committee. Nick expressed concern about whether minors would be allowed to serve.
T-Shirts – It was suggested it would be helpful to have some sort of apparel identifying techs as being from Lamoine CTV when recording meetings in the field.
3rd Camera – Stu and Bill said they would go shopping sometime for one.
Racks – Stu said he would like to re-do the setup in the switching room, with new equipment racks to better accommodate the equipment. Those present agreed it would be a good idea.
Increasing awareness – Bill suggested having the school hold a contest of sorts to design a logo for the Cable TV channel. He also suggested having the Selectmen and other town officials record an audio identifier to drop in between songs during the power point displays noting that folks are watching LCTV.
Production Computer – There was a discussion about producing and editing shows for the channel. It was noted that the 6th through 8th grade students have laptops that are capable of producing short movies. It was suggested we could pitch that idea to the school as well.
Playback Computer – Bill said he would ask Doug Ashmore about the digi-play system Ellsworth uses when he talks with him.
Policy Update – Nick said the committee should look at policies in place and whether they ought to be updated. Bill was asked to place that on the next agenda.
Next Meeting Date – It was agreed to meet sometime in June. Bill will set the date in consultation with Stu at the town hall.
Wendy said she would take a stab at running the system for the Selectmen's meeting on the 19th .
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:10 PM. The group did a quick walk-through of the switching equipment.
