Meeting Notes from September 18, 2006
The meeting came to order at 7:30 PM at the Lamoine Town Hall
Present were: Merle Bragdon, Bill Butler , Nicholas Pappas, Patty Heath, and Stu Marckoon.
Volunteers – The group discussed ways to try to recruit volunteers to do the shows for the TV channel. Among the suggestions:
Spread the word at MDI High School (Nick)
Contact Lamoine School – Mr. James (Stu)
Contact New England School of Communications (Bill)
Contact Ellsworth High School (Stu?)
Public Service Announcement on radio (Bill/Stu)
Equipment Needed – The group felt a new, higher quality DVD recorder is a must. Stu said he would find a good one. A new, high quality tripod for field recording was also desired. Bill said he would look into audio processing equipment to try to get the sound levels more consistent. The group also discussed installing a 3 rd camera at the town hall, and possibly a laptop with video editing capabilities.
Technical Issues / Lessons Learned – The techs present said board members have to be more aware of annoying sounds such as pen tapping at meetings. They agreed the scrub pads have worked well at eliminating extraneous sounds.
Boards and committee should be encouraged to display maps and other things on the easel so the camera can zoom in better.
There was discussion about how to wire up the school once an addition project is approved. It was agreed that someone should get together with the school committee and/or architect at the appropriate time.
Other – Wiring within community – The group discussed the density requirements for extending cable service. Stu said a meeting with Time Warner is supposed to happen in the near future.
Policy – Those gathered felt it would be a good time at the next meeting to review the policies in effect and suggest changes (if any) that might be needed.
Keys - A couple of the techs asked if they could have building keys so they could be inside and ready to roll before meetings because boards often show up at the last minute.
There being no further matters for discussion, the meeting concluded at 8:45 PM
