Minutes - April 5, 2017 (draft, subject to correction)
Meeting convened by Chairwoman Rybarz at 5:30 PM
Attending: Kathleen Rybarz, Jeff Cosulich, Doug Stewart, Larry Libby
Minutes of February 22 meeting approved as corrected.
Marlboro Beach — Kathleen has talked with Aaron Dority of Frenchman Bay Conservancy regarding progress with the town purchase of the Marlboro Beach property. FBC may be able to help with fund-raising for the purchase. Up to $10,000 from Lamoine Conservation Fund was voted for the project at the March town meeting. Dority will be discussing further with the Norris family. The Lamoine Parks Commission may request additional funding for signage and other items at the May/June town meeting. That request has to be in 30 days prior to the meeting.
Smith Parcel — this sub-committee sees no role for itself related to the Smith parcel.
Pinkham Park — Larry drafted a letter asking the select board to consider accepting the park property with the understanding that further actions are needed (a parcel survey, zoning change to Commercial Fisheries/Marine Activities, DOT permit for a driveway, and funding to construct the facilities). The letter would come from the Parks Commission and Conservation Commission, though the Parks Commission has the lead since it will have responsibility to manage the new property. Chair of Parks wants to have a commission vote on the letter before it is sent. That vote can hopefully be taken soon. Maps of the site are on the Shore Access web site
Shore Road Parcel — this 19 acre parcel is still on the market. Acquisition would require fund-raising. This sub-committee continues to see important potential for the parcel.
No new business was raised. The committee feels that we have enough follow-up on old business to avoid starting something new.
Meeting Schedule: Next meeting is scheduled for May 3 at 5:30 in the town hall, if available.
Meeting adjourned at 6:30 PM
