LONG RANGE PLANNING COMMITTEE

May 17, 2005

Draft Copy – Subject to Change

Chairman Jones called the meeting to order at 7:00pm

Members Present: M. Garrett, B. Jones, L. Landon, D. Macurdy, R. McDevitt, K. Rybarz, F. Stocking J. Wuorinen

Minutes: Minutes of the April 19, 2005 meeting were accepted as presented.

AGENDA

Selection of Committee Officers – J. Wuorinen moved that until we experience better attendance, the present slate of officers be maintained. R. McDevitt seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.

Committee Membership Recommendations – M. Garrett will compile a list of Committee members who have missed the last four consecutive meetings. Once presented, the Committee will decide whether to make personal contact with those on the list or summarily remove them from the Committee.

Town Memorial Update – F. Stocking moved and J. Wuorinen seconded the following motion: “M. Garrett will draft a statement to include the “ The ABCs of Town Memorial Construction ” and present it to the Board of Selectmen with a recommendation that the Selectmen consider the appointment of a Committee to proceed with the planning and construction of a Town Memorial.” The vote was unanimous.

Survey Draft – Further and final refinements were made to the items of a proposed Town wide survey. M. Garrett will incorporate those refinements into a final draft to be presented to the Board of Selectmen – hopefully at their May 26th meeting. F. Stocking will draft a “cover letter” to accompany the survey, explaining the intent and urging participation.

It is the Committee's desire to mail (bulk mail?) a copy of the survey to every household in Lamoine. The mailing is to include a return addressed and stamped (first class?) envelope as an inducement for a maximum rate of return.

The meeting adjourned at 8:13pm

Respectfully submitted,

Michael F. Garrett, Secretary
