	MINUTES OF THE LONG RANGE PLANNING COMMITTEE March 21, 2006

Chairman B. Jones called the meeting to order at 7:00pm

Committee Members Present: M. Garrett, B. Hanson, B. Jones, F. Stocking, J. Wuorinen, J. Young

Minutes: The minutes of February 21, 2006 were accepted as presented.

OLD BUSINESS

With the survey compiled and made available to the public, further work ON the project is completed. Further work WITH the results comprised the “New Business” for the meeting.

NEW BUSINESS

The Committee, poised in a ‘what next' mode, entertained the following ideas/suggestions.

• J. Wuorinen would like to see a study of the Town's hydrology before any significant proposals for changes (specifically zoning) are entertained.
• F. Stocking proposed the Committee review the Comprehensive Plan for outdated or inaccurate data and/or conclusions based upon this data. He wishes a critique more than an update. What would be the cost? Does the current document meet Town's needs?
• B. Hanson does not wish to “edit” the Comprehensive Plan. Rather, she proposes we look at if from a long range planning point of view.
• M. Garrett suggested we use future meetings as workshops with the Comprehensive Plan in one hand and survey results in the other. This to address F. Stocking's proposal above.
• B. Hanson is interested in meeting a need expressed as a high priority in the survey results. That is, long range planning to provide safe recreational walking. F. Stocking stated the Conservation Commission will likely meet with the Parks & Recreation Committee this summer to consider recreational issues.

With consensus the Committee concluded this discussion by directing the Secretary to request that S. Marckoon provide a copy of the Comprehensive Plan to each Committee member. At our next meeting ( Tuesday, April 25, 2006* ) the Committee will discuss the demographic portion(s) of that report and divvy up the Plan into working ‘pieces' for subsequent meetings.

A wide ranging discussion of Code Enforcement ensued. No conclusions were reached except to suggest Code Enforcement is more legitimately the bailiwick of the Planning Board and Board of Selectmen.

The meeting adjourned at 8:02pm .

*NOTE: The April meeting is April 25, 2006 ( the FOURTH, not the THIRD, Tuesday of the month.)
