Chairman B. Jones called the meeting to order at 7:05pm

Members present: M. Garrett, B. Jones, R. McDevitt, F. Stocking, J. Wourinen, J Young

Minutes: The minutes of September 26, 2006 were approved as presented

AGENDA

Where do we go from here? The discussion centered around what should be our agenda for the future. These several points emerged:

• Should we focus on specific needs such as future Town Hall facilities, population projections?
• We need to make a recommendation to the Selectmen regarding an update of the Comprehensive Plan.
• J. Wuorinen would like the Committee to “educate” the public about future needs – for example a sewer System. So doing, Town folks will know what we are facing.
• F. Stocking reviewed the history of the Committee. Member attendance has declined to a point we could not get a quorum for the last five meetings. Given this lack of energy and enthusiasm, perhaps we should make a Comprehensive Plan recommendation and disband.
• F. Stocking cited evidence (Flood Plain mapping) that the Federal Government assumes that planning be done by county. While this is not true in Maine , it does seem to be the future direction.

Following a discussion, F. Stocking made a motion, seconded by M. Garrett and unanimously approved.

The motion reads: “ The LRPC recommends the Town of Lamoine investigate the costs of updating the Town Comprehensive Plan.”

We next meet on Tuesday, March 27 th at 7:00pm IF sufficient information regarding the above motion is available to justify a meeting.
