Minutes - November 18, 2015
Chairman Bill Butler called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM.
Present were: Bill Butler, Merle Bragdon, Brett Jones (arrived 6:43 pm), Administrative Assistant Stu Marckoon.
Minutes – April 22, 2015 – Merle moved to approve the minutes as written. Bill 2nd. (Brett had not yet arrived, vote was unanimous)
CTV Operations Director – Stu reported Kendall Davis has resigned as he is moving out of state. Bill noted that two people have held the part time job, and neither has stayed with it for very long. He said he would discuss with one of his co-workers at WNSX Radio about the job. There was discussion about whether the position was worth having. Stu said it would be a tremendous help to him.
Wiring the School – Stu said he was looking for thoughts regarding the proposal from Connectivity Point. Bill said he felt the project should be suggested to the Selectmen to go ahead. There was a lengthy discussion about the specifics. Merle and Bill opted to table the idea until Brett’s arrival.
On Line Streaming – Merle said he thinks the system is great. Bill asked if there are any statistics about use. Stu said he could ask the company that hosts the site if those can be accessed. He noted that the video programming is not available for smart phones.
Camcorder – Stu noted the tape drive on one of the Sony Cameras has stopped working. Bill said it’s not likely worth the cost to repair, and it would be better to get a camera that records onto a hard drive. He agreed to get a price for such a camera.
Windows 10 – Stu asked whether the town office computers should make the switch to Windows 10. Bill said no. Merle said if the town does not utilize touch screens, it’s not needed. After a brief discussion, Bill said Windows 7 appears to be OK until next October. Brett arrived at the meeting during the discussion and concurred that waiting would be beneficial.
Meeting with Comprehensive Planning Committee – After a brief discussion about possible dates, the committee agreed that it might be easiest to meet with the Comprehensive Planning Committee during their next regular meeting in December (the 10th). Stu will let the chair know.
Wiring the School (resumption) – The discussion resumed regarding the school wiring project. Among the ideas discussed was remote operating capabilities, cameras for a classroom, and audio needs. The committee had no objection to Stu developing a counter idea to send back to Connectivity Point. Brett noted this will likely have to be a summer time project.
Next Meeting - At the call of the chair, or with Comprehensive Planning on December 10th.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:56 PM
