Chair Bill Butler called the meeting to order at the Lamoine Consolidated School at 6:45 PM.
Present were: Bill Butler, Brett Jones, Merle Bragdon & Stu Marckoon
Minutes – November 29, 2017 – Merle moved to approve as written. Brett 2nd. Vote in favor was 3-0.
Resignation of CTV Operator – Stu reported the Melissa Johnson had stepped down from the position as she accepted a job. The committee recommended re-advertising the position. Bill said he would approach Hancock County Technical Center to see if there might be any students with interest.
School Wiring Update – Prior to the meeting, the committee reviewed the wiring job from Connectivity Point. There is an issue with controls on Camera 1 in the gym, and Stu explained that the Nexus System is still not receiving an audio/video signal. He said he is holding the check to Connectivity Point until the system works. He said that Time Warner / Charter / Spectrum has yet to hook up the channel.
CTV System Expansion – There was a lengthy discussion about internet speed offered by Spectrum. Bill moved to recommend to the Board of Selectmen that Sewall Company be contacted in regard to their recent offer to assist with expanding cable to unserved areas. Brett 2nd. Vote in favor was 3-0.
Franchise Agreement Status – Stu reported he had not heard from the town attorney recently on the matter.
Web Server – Brett reported that the server that holds the town website recently went down due to human error, but with some assistance and finding the right password, it rebooted successfully. There was discussion regarding redundancy of the web service and file backups, as well as password maintenance.
Next Meeting – The committee agreed to meet at the call of the chair following action by Selectmen on hiring a CTV operator, a decision regarding contacting Sewall Company, and getting the school system up and running.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:05 pm.
