Public present: Edna Coyne
The committee met on September 17, 2008 and Jo called the meeting to order at 710 pm.
We reviewed the Dedication of the Memorial on September 13, 2008 . Jo will take care of written thank yous.
I presented 2 bills pending to be paid, Fred Wieninger for installation of brick pavers, amount $3510.00 and NewLand Nursery for shrubs and wreath, amount $372.75 minus $1.75 sales tax. Motion was made and 2 nd, 4-0, to approve to pay, gave copies of bill to Stu to present to the selectmen for payment.
Hubene Brodie has offered to make a wreath for Veterans Day, but wanted to know if we were getting a wire stand to put wreath on. We accepted her offer of making the wreath, but will discuss what on and where to put at the memorial.
Discussion again on many ways to fund the project. Edna stated her and Marilyn Lockhart thought maybe we could sell the video of Dedication day as a way to fund. The committee will check for the proper way to handle that. Looking into the interest from the local VFW's and American Legions, local theatre group and the Grange, for support. Reggie will contact Galen Cole again about funding, but is looking for a packet of information to present to him. Jo thought contacting the local and state representatives would help. We need to look into ways of approaching groups for grants. Jay states he has been in contact with the manager of Wal-Mart and they would call the office to get tax ID #. A 50/50 raffle was approved by the committee to sell at the Lamoine Fire Depts. supper on October 18, 2008 . We discussed getting a spiral bound booklet together with photos, DVD, the children's drawings from the luncheon, testimonials from Veterans and families for sale, suppers, silent auction, dance.
Next meeting tentative date is Wednesday, October 15th , 2008 .
Meeting adjourned at 820 pm.
