Parks Commission

Meeting Notes - September 21, 2015

The meeting began at 6:30 PM at the Lamoine Town Hall.

Present were Parks Commissioners Doug Jones and Cathleen Goebel along with Administrative Assistant to the Selectmen Stu Marckoon.  The meeting did not constitute a quorum, so no official action could be taken.

Stu encouraged the members present to look for others who might be willing to serve on the parks commission, as the commission is down a couple of people.

Stu reported the town has hired Rick Gallegos as a facilities maintenance director.  He said he sees the role of the Parks Commission as being less “hands on” and more of a policy setting organization.

The Parks Ordinance was reviewed.  There was a brief discussion about fireworks and whether it is legal for people to use them at the parks (it is not, without written permission).

Doug said the grills should be stored away for the winter in November.

Stu inquired as to whether there is a key for the dog waste container at Bloomfield Park.

The next meeting will be scheduled by Stu who will e-mail a couple of suggested dates to the committee.  Thursdays are not a good night.  6:30 is a good time.

There being no business that could be conducted, the meeting adjourned at 7:00 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Stu Marckoon, Adm. Asst. to the Selectmen
