Call 2010-06

February 10, 2010

Lamoine & Hancock VFDs were called to reports of smoke from the Chickadee Lane area of Mud Creek Road at 1:52 PM. On arrival, firefighters found a burning building, fully engulfed and collapsed. The home's occupant was not present, having left earlier in the day to harvest marine worms. The State Fire Marshal's office determined that the fire started from a wood stove that the occupant had filled prior to leaving and it ignited the home. There were no injuries.
Firefighters from Lamoine and Hancock douse what remains of the structure at 30 Chickadee Lane. Remains of a chainsaw and cabinet from the cabin that was completely destroyed by the fire.
(R) Lt. Brett Jones and (L) FF David Herrick Jr. man the tanker shuttle/relay pumping area at the head of Chickadee Lane.
Lamoine Asst. Chief Stu Marckoon operates Engine 401 which acted as a relay pumper up the driveway after getting stuck in the mud and ice. Thanks to Pro Auto for pulling the truck out.
