Current State Fire Danger | Burning Permits are required before any outdoor burning takes place. Permits are available at the Lamoine Town Hall during regular business hours as well as from Fire Chief George Smith, Capt. Jim Hunnewell, and Asst. Chief Stu Marckoon. At times burning is restricted due to fire danger. The fire warden also limits the number of permits issued at one time. |

On May 9, 2006 there was an unusual amount of smoke in the air which prompted many calls to the town office. The smoke is apparently from a fire in Washington County and the smoke is blowing west. Other wildfires are reported in the Franklin/Eastbrook area. No burning permits are being issued until further notice. |
