Rescue Call January 18, 2004

Lamoine VFD was requested by the US Coast Guard to assist a boat in distress off Gouldsboro Point. The ship's captain had reported that he was caught in the ice, and Coast Guard advised their response time would be slower. Upon arrival approximately 48 minutes from the first alert, LVFD personnel prepared the rescue boat in case launch was needed. On scene command reached the captain of the ice-bound vessel who advised that he was free from the ice, and safely attached to his mooring. US Coast Guard released LVFD from the scene. No injuries
