Fire Department Call February 2, 2006

Lamoine VFD was called at 11:01 PM to Douglas Highway for a motor vehicle accident with personal injury. Upon arrival firefighters found a Jeep driven by Lisa Clark of Lamoine had hit a tree and broken off a utility pole. Shown to the right are fire department personnel setting up the department's rescue cutting tool on Douglas Highway while others attend to Miss Clark who was trapped in the driver's seat.
Capt. Edward Farnsworth used the hydraulic powered tools to remove the door of the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee in order to safely remove the driver from the wreckage. Clark was not seriously injured in the crash but was taken by County Ambulance to Eastern Maine Medical Center for treatment. Adding to the difficulty was the fact that the crash scene was on a steep hill off the main road. A line of firefighters passed the backboard up the hill to safely put Miss Clark on a stretcher.
The weather was wet after a snowfall. Hancock County Sheriff's Deputy Jason Lepper (shown at right) is investigating the accident.
