Possible Rabies Cases Reported in Lamoine

The Town of Lamoine has received reports of two incidents of rabies. The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a quarantine order for an exposed dog on Shore Road. The town's animal control officer has met with the animal owner. A Seal Point Road resident reported being pursued by an aggressive skunk during the weekend of October 20th, and a trap has been set for the skunk.

People are advised not to approach any wildlife and to report any possible exposure to 1-800-821-5821.

It is also important to make sure your pets are vaccinated against rabies. Dog registrations are the law, and all registrations expire December 31st. The town clerk's office reports 2008 registrations are now available. Proof of Rabies vaccination is required.
