Stu Marckoon
Report for Meeting of February 3, 2022

I am writing this on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.   The weather continues to be cold, and we apparently have the possibility of a whopper storm coming on the 29th.  Casella has called an informed me that they’ll pick up the trash at the transfer station late on Friday instead of first thing Saturday morning.  That should work out nicely.

It has been very quiet here in the office for the past week or so.  That’s kind of nice.

I will be out of the office on February 2nd.  That’s the day we’re moving my dad to our house for the next few months.  He’s looking forward to it, and so are we.  It’ll be a new experience.

Your agenda is very short at this point.  No major issues for you to tackle at this time.

I met with the REACH people this week, and they’re starting on the website redesign/hosting project.  I would like to get up to date pictures of the board – so if you can dress in what you’d like on the website on Thursday, I’ll try to take new pictures of you.

Minutes – January 20, 2022 – Thank you for all your work in the past few meetings to make sure the minutes are accurate.  Keep the changes coming.

Warrant 18 – The premium pay is on the warrant.  I’ve mailed the firefighters their checks and the front-line staff received their pay.  Some were surprised to see it coming.  On my family’s behalf – thank you very much!  I suspect we’ll have to move some money from investments again to cover the school warrants.

Cash & Budget Reports – These will be updated on the website periodically.  A printed report will come on meeting night.  We should still be in very good shape.

Checking Account Reconciliation – I hope to have that done on February 1st and will e-mail when it is done.  It might not be until meeting night.  Depends on when the bank has the statement ready.

Automatic Foreclosures – I’ll print the list for your packets.  No one has paid recently.  The date is the same day as your next meeting (February 17th).

ARPA UpdatePremium Pay – As mentioned, the pay has been distributed.  Once you sign the warrant, I’ll send that and the bi-weekly payroll report to the Hancock County Administrator in hopes that we’ll see our matching check soon.

Broadband - I’ve kept you in the loop on the e-mail from Shelley Winchenbach.  The Bangor Daily News called this afternoon and they’re doing a story on broadband expansion.  I suspect that might be in the paper later this week. Still no commitment from the county commissioners.

Fire Dept. Water Project – We’ve not talked much about that.  My suggestion would be to have the board authorize the Fire Department to seek engineering design services for their project once the 2nd federal payment is received.

Town Report – I’m still awaiting the school department report.  Jo found some typos which she intended to leave at the town office.  I’ll print what I have on Thursday afternoon for your packet.  I hope to send this to the printer on the Friday after your meeting.

Citizen of the Year Plaque and Resolve – I put a mockup of the plaque in your last packet but will print that again.  I’ll also do up a resolve for your to sign for presentation at town meeting.

Candidate’s Night? – I’ve not heard a thing from any group sponsoring one.  I’ll be glad to place it on the calendar for the website once we know something.

Speaking of websites, the Ellsworth American/REACH has started to design our new site.  I expect something to look over in the next few weeks.

Other – I’ve started a running log of communication with a resident which has been difficult and will place that in your packets.

That’s really all that’s on the agenda!  See you on the 3rd.
