The meeting came to order at 8:00 AM
Present were: Assessors Jane Fowler, Brian Thomas and
Terry Towne and guest Glenn Crawford.
Minutes – September 9,
2020 – Terry
moved to approve, Brian 2nd.
Jane was not at the meeting.
Working Waterfront Valuation Request
– The board met with Glenn Crawford to discuss an application for a working
waterfront land valuation classification.
After much discussion, the board suggested to
Mr. Crawford that he consult with the Code Enforcement Officer and/or the
Planning Board to seek approval and possibly start the process of a zoning
change in order to construct whatever is needed to qualify for the
classification.
The Board agreed to hold onto the application
for further information.
Supplemental Tax Bill
– The Board prepared a supplemental tax bill for Map 9 Lot 29 as a homestead
exemption was not removed after the property owner passed away.
Abatement Request,
Map 14, Lot 11 (Gretchen Upson) – A motion was made, 2nd, then
withdrawn to deny the request for an abatement.
After discussion, Terry suggested that the
board request additional information, i.e. the results of the soil test.
A letter was prepared for Ms.Upson.
Upcoming Joint Meeting
– The board briefly discussed the joint meeting planned with the Selectmen and
Planning Board scheduled for October 15, 2020 at the school.
Next Meeting –
The next Board of Assessors meeting will be on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at
8AM (though it is a federal holiday)
Personal Property Tax
– The Board composed a letter which will be sent to Randy Kelley requesting a
Personal Property Return for April 1, 2020.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at
9:22 AM
