Conservation Commission MinutesOctober 13, 2021 |
Members present: Larissa Thomas,
chairwoman; Kerry Diskin, Diane Nicholls, Linda Penkalski, Jack Robichaud
Alternate member present: Mike
Jordan
Alternate member absent: Diana
Cassel
Meeting was
convened at the Lamoine Town Hall by Chairwoman Thomas at
7:00 PM.
Topics Discussed:
1.
Approval of the September
8, 2021 minutes.
2.
Marlboro Beach traffic management
project: Richard McMullen will be putting down the boulders at the cross
roads. He has enough boulders for
the project. Signs have been
ordered. We may only need posts for
the signs. Kerry and/or Mike might
be able to go to Marlboro Beach tomorrow when the boulders will be placed at the
cross roads. Larissa will ask Stu
to make an announcement on Facebook once the boulders are placed announcing the
closure of the cross roads. It was
suggested that reflective tape or caution tape be wrapped around the boulders so
they are more visible.
3.
Remote meetings policy: We voted to
approve the acceptance of the Lamoine Board of Selectmen’s Remote Participation
Policy with one edit. Removal in
paragraph two of
or an illness or temporary absence of a member that
causes significant difficulty traveling to the meeting location.
4.
Coastal cleanup recap: There was
moderate participation this year.
The shore was pretty clean compared to past years.
Lots of shoes were found!
5.
GET WET! Blunts Pond water testing and
the Simon Trail Tree Walk: A special thank you to all of our volunteers-
Jeff Cosulich, Jack Robichaud, Diane Nicholls, Iris Simon, Carol Duffy and Diana
Cassel. We had beautiful weather.
The students were very enthusiastic and excited to be doing real science.
Hopefully we will be able to do the GET WET! testing of the student’s
well water in the spring and possibly outdoors as last May.
