Conservation Commission MinutesMinutes - November 10, 2021 (Draft, subject to correction) |
Members present:
Larissa Thomas, Kerry Diskin, Mike Jordan
Others: Jeff
Cosulich Parks Commission, Carolyn Ackerman
Meeting convened at
7:00 m by Larissa
1)
Approval of
10/13/21 minutes
2)
Marlboro Beach traffic
management project: discussion around people driving around boulders, camping,
and parking on areas to be revegetated and how to prevent these occurrences from
happening in the future. Since
winter season is approaching and the traffic volume will likely decrease, the
Commission decided to reevaluate the issue in the spring.
The Commission also decided to place six additional signs along the area
to be protected, and to have Richard McMullen adjust the placement of the
boulders so that they are flush with the edge of the vegetation.
3)
Carolyn Ackerman
discussed her project, plant life in the supralittoral zone, for the Maine
Master Naturalist Program. We
discussed partnering with her to develop interpretive materials based on her
project that can be posted on the town website and/or mounted on signs at
Marlboro Beach. Carolyn will
develop ideas for the signs over the winter and get back to us in the spring.
4)
Remote meetings
policy: a public
hearing had been advertised and was opened at this point in the meeting to
accept any testimony; however, no members of the public had come to the meeting
to discuss the policy. Thus, the public hearing was promptly closed, and
the commission voted to approve the remote meeting policy.
5)
Conservation award: we
voted to defer discussion to a later meeting.
6)
Other business: none
Meeting adjourned at
7:48pm

Chair Larissa Thomas
