Deputy Town Clerk Stuart Marckoon called the meeting to order at 10:35 AM
Present were: Walter Grenier, Jane
Fowler, Kathie Gaianguest, and Stu Marckoon.
Selection of Chair -
By
acclaim, Jane Fowler was selected as chair.
Policy Review
– The committee reviewed the policy that created the committee.
The committee discussed raising funds.
Walter suggested that businesses be contacted for possible donations.
Stu reported that a group called One Hancock had offered a matching grant
earlier in the year, but he was not sure if that was still available.
Kathie suggested letting the Fuel Buyers group know about the donation
opportunity and she offered to initiate contact.
It
was agreed that a brochure should be developed with a clear, standard message.
Stu said if the group would send him ideas, he would try to develop
something. There was extensive
discussion about making business contacts, and creating a potential donor list
as soon as possible. Walter offered
to help develop the potential donor list.
Stu said donations might be tax deductible and said each donor would
receive an acknowledgement letter.
There was discussion about giving donors more public recognition on the town’s
website.
Application
– Stu offered to draft an
application for potential recipients. The committee agreed that if applications
for assistance are received, Stu would screen them, forward the application via
e-mail, and the committee could approve or deny.
It was agreed that all applications would be confidential.
