	Heating Assistance Committee Meeting Notes - February 7, 2022 (Draft, subject to correction)

The meeting came to order at the Lamoine Town Hall at 9:30 AM.

Present were: Committee members Jane Fowler, Katheryn Gaianguest, Mary Henry; Administrative Assistant Stu Marckoon.

It was noted there is over $18,000 in the fund presently. 

Mary asked if it was accurate that only two people had applied for assistance this season.  Stu said that was correct.  A brief discussion followed on publicizing the program.  It was suggested that articles go into the Lamoine Quarterly in October and January each year. 

Kathie asked why the question about General Assistance is on the application.  She said it would be helpful to know more information about the applicants than what is contained on the application.  After a brief discussion it was noted that the applicants sign the application stating that they qualify for the Heating Assistance program.  It was agreed to eliminate the General Assistance question from the application. 

Kathie asked if the fund could be used to help with energy conservation efforts.  She suggested a work day be used to promote and make window curtains to help hold in heat.  Stu noted that the first sentence of the policy that was used to establish the fund says it is for emergency heating assistance.  A discussion followed on possibly suggesting to the Lamoine Baptist Church that such a program might be beneficial to the community. 

A brief discussion followed on the application process and it will continue that the town hall staff will e-mail applications to the committee for final approval. 

The committee felt that no future meeting is needed at this time.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:59 AM.
