Parks CommissionMinutes - Decemer 7, 2020 |
Parks Chair Cathi Goebel called the meeting via Zoom to
order at 6:00 p.m.
Present via Zoom: Commission members Cathi Goebel,
Georgianna Pulver (Alternate), Maggie Andros, and Jeff Cosulich; and
Administrative Assistant, Stu
Marckoon
Minutes:
The minutes of the
September 14, 2020 meeting were approved as written.
Jeff proposed and Maggie seconded a motion to
accept the minutes as written.
Vote in favor was 4 to 0.
At the September 14, 2020
meeting there was not a quorum to approve the
minutes from the June 8, 2020 meeting.
Stu shared the minutes on his screen for
review.
Georgiana proposed and Jeff seconded a motion to
accept the minutes as written.
Vote in favor was 4 to 0.
Doug’s Retirement:
Jeff asked whether we had done anything for Doug’s retirement from the Parks
Commission.
Lori was going to get a basket together.
Maggie will ask her about that.
Cathi offered to deliver the basket.
Stu reported the budget is
pretty much the same as last year.
There was a section added for Whitcomb Woods,
the parcel adjacent to Bloomfield Park that was donated.
We have a $5K grant from the Whitcomb family
for maintenance of the property as part of the land donation.
Stu
recommended adding $1000 to the budget for general maintenance of Whitcomb
Woods.
We changed the amount of the Marlboro Beach kiosk from
$2500 to $1500, which will be needed to get the information panels designed and
printed.
Total amount of budget stayed
the same as proposed at $10,040.
Jeff proposed and Maggie seconded a motion to
approve the amount.
Vote in favor was 4 to 0.
Whitcomb Woods:
We talked about budget
requirements and determined for now it would just be a sign that says Whitcomb
Woods.
Stu said there is a resident in town who makes signs
and wants to pay his property taxes by making signs.
Georgiana asked about needing wood or planks to
go over wet areas.
Stu recommended we get in touch with Aaron
Dority at the Frenchman Bay Conservancy to discuss the plan for that property,
making trails, volunteer work, etc.
There was a town cleanup recently for Whitcomb Woods and $70 was spent hauling
away trash, furniture, etc.
Thank you to Stu and Doug for using their
trucks, and to the Coynes for their help.
Cathi will send a thank you note.
Marlboro Beach:
Georgiana noted the top of the
kiosk was on the ground.
Stu reported that the bottom of the kiosk had
been installed but they left the top for now.
We can install panels when they are done,
hopefully in the spring.
Mike Jordan submitted his bill and was paid for
the kiosk at Marlboro Beach and repair of the one at Bloomfield Park.
Cathi reported that Bob Ehlers
replaced the worn out yellow rope on the fencing at Marlboro Beach.
Cathi picked up the rope and Bob replaced it
all.
Thanks, Bob!
Bloomfield Park:
Cathi asked who is doing the
brush clearing at the Park other than the Parks Commission cleanup in May.
Stu reported that Mike Hodgkins, facility
maintenance for the Town, has done some cleanup of fallen trees and McMullen
hauled them away.
The trail camera battery and
card have not been replaced since the May cleanup at Bloomfield Park.
Cathi asked if Mike Hodgkins could get a ladder
and help with the changing of batteries and card.
Stu said that Mike could probably do that, but
Stu offered his assistance this time.
Cathi, Stu, and Jeff agreed on a date of
Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.
Next meeting:
Monday, March 15, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.
There being no further
business, Cathi proposed and Maggie seconded a motion to adjourn.
Vote in favor was 4 to 0. Meeting adjourned at
6:25 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Maggie Andros
Member, Lamoine Parks Commission
