Parks CommissionMinutes - August 2, 2021 |
Parks Chair Cathi Goebel called the meeting to order at
6:00 p.m.
Present: Commission members Cathi Goebel, Lori Jordan,
Jeff Cosulich, Bob Ehlers
and alternate Georgianna Pulver.
Conservation Commission proposal for Marlboro Beach:
The group had looked at the proposal to close some of the
gravel paths and had no objections. Cathi will attend the next Conservation
Commission’s meeting on August 11 and will share that information.
Bloomfield
Park Crowding:
Nate Dandurand joined the meeting to represent a group of
citizens that believe that Blunt’s Pond has become too crowded with people and
dogs. He wanted to share his ideas with the group before starting a petition.
He proposed a sticker system for use of the beach;
stickers would be free for Lamoiners and would cost money for non-residents. He
also proposed that dogs be prohibited from the Beach and swimming area from 7 or
8 am until 5 pm. A sign would be placed at the entrance to the Park to inform
all visitors of these rules.
Cathi mentioned that Beech Hill Pond has similar rules
but they are enforced by a town constable. Jeff asked if Nate and his group
would be willing to volunteer to take turns to enforce the rules. Nate believed
it was reasonable that volunteers could take turns checking stickers on cars and
calling a tow truck for cars without a sticker.
Nate also mentioned that the people have found trash such
as condoms on the beach.
Cathi said that she would put the ideas in writing and
share them with the Town Administrator.
Lamoine 150 Celebration:
Cathi proposed that Parks Commission clean up litter at
the 3 Parks and encourage others to pick up litter in their own neighborhoods
prior to the weekend of August 14 and 15. The group agreed and Cathi will ask
the 150 Committee to post the information on the Facebook Page.
New
business:
Cathi shared
the following with the group:
Marlboro
Beach Kiosk:
Cathi
contacted Banner City in Bucksport who can do the panels for $50 dollars each
plus $65/hr for any type setting. The panels are weatherproof. Cathi plans to
visit the company this week.
Whitcomb
Woods Trail:
Kat Deeley
from FBC had emailed Cathi to say that FBC was not planning any trail for the
area so as not to disturb wildlife and nesting birds. Cathi had left a message
for Kat for more information and will share it with the group when she receives
it.
Bloomfield
Park Memoriam Bench:
Emily Lawley said that the bench would be installed by the manufacturer
and requested a small service to be held on October 25.
Next meeting:
Monday, September 13 at 6:00 p.m.
There being no further business, the Meeting adjourned at
6:45 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Cathi Goebel
Chair, Lamoine Parks Commission
