Rescue Call - March 26, 2007

Lamoine VFD was called to Lamoine Beach Road for a landscaper who had been cutting trees and was apparently struck by one of them, momentarily losing consciousness. Lt. Michael Jordan found 21-year old Richard McMullen lying injured in the woods. Capt. Carlton Johnson and FF Jon Harris and several other assisted in transporting Mr. McMullen to a County Ambulance rig.

En route to the scene, County Ambulance arranged for Lifeflight of Maine to transport the victim to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. LVFD units closed off the parking lot at nearby Lamoine Beach for a landing zone for the helicopter.

The crew from County Ambulance and LVFD assisted with getting Mr. McMullen onto the helicopter for the flight to Bangor. He had been able to call 9-1-1 from his cell phone and give his general location which allowed help to immediately be dispatched to the area.
