Fire Call - May 28, 2007

Lamoine Fire Department was dispatched to 461 Buttermilk Road when the homeowners saw flames coming from the top of a utility pole in front of their house. Rescue Engine 403 and Utility Truck 405 (shown at right) established a safety perimeter and traffic control along Buttermilk Road.
The apparent cause of the pole fire was a failed insulator that caused the power line to come to ground on the wooden pole and set it ablaze. Bangor Hydro Electric Crews cut the power briefly to Buttermilk Road, removed the burned portion of the pole, and replaced the insulator and stem with a new unit.
