Lamoine VFD was called to the intersection of Lamoine Beach Road and Bay Road for a vehicle fire. On arrival a 1977 Volkswagen van was fully engulfed in flames. Fire crews used foam and water to extinguish the van. The driver stated that she had been stopped on Route 184 chatting with a neighbor when the van stalled and caught fire. She was not injured. The Hancock County Sheriff's Department is investigating. 14 firefighters from Lamoine VFD responded to the call which was the first to use the department's new airpacks. The effort took approximately 1,300 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.
