Lamoine VFD Call 2/6/05

Lamoine Volunteer Fire Department members responded to a mutual aid call at a structure fire in Trenton, responding with Trenton and Ellsworth to a fire on the Bayside Road. The pumper and tanker were en-route to the scene in approximately one minute from the call thanks to firefighters who were near the station when the call came in. At left, a crew mans pumper 401 at Trenton Fire Chief Kelton Muise's pond as it fills tankers.
Firefighters used a chainsaw to cut a hole in the pond (right) to put a suction hose and strainer into the pond. Another hose from the pumper circulated water back into the pond to keep the pump active. Only 1800 gallons of water was needed from Lamoine's tanker truck to put out the fire. No injuries were reported in the firefighting effort, though at least one room of the home suffered extensive fire damage.
